The importance of good oral hygien cannot be underestimated. It is one of the more important things you can do to promote healthy teeth and gums -- not to mention overall health. Proper brushing and flossing is the key to daily preventative care. It is much cheaper, less painfull to prevent problems (tooth decay, gum disease, etc) before they occur. In addiion to regular dental visits, here are a few very simple steps that you can take to greatly decrease your risk of developing tooth decay, gum disease and other dental problems:

• Brush and floss your teeth twice dailiy
• Limit sugary snacks and eat a balanced diet
• Use a fluoride toothpaste
• If recommended by your dentist, rinse with a fluoride mouthrinse
• Children under the age of 12 should drink fluoridated water or a fluoride supplement if live in a non-fluoridated area.
